Project Team 2007.12.14

Present: Isaiah Beard, Sujay Daniels, Chuck Hedrick, Jane Hutchison, George Laskaris, Sandie Miller, Sheri Prupis.

The NJVid Coordinator position is up and two people have applied. Jane Hutchison is chairing the Search Committee and it was suggested that Sheri, Anne, Isaiah, and Martin could be asked to join the Search Committee for the NJVid Coordinator. Suggestions for further advertising of this position included going to Librarian Listservs and advertising with universities who have programs for MLS or MLIS. Sandie can work with Sheri on this as she is aware of programs that would be good such as the Instructional Tech w/Lib at RU.

The two programmer positions have been approved (NJEdge is still waiting for NJIT to come back with the state title for these positions). Rutgers will house one of the positions, but it will be hired through NJEDge and Rutgers will take over this position when the grant is over. Barriers to adoption questions - please review and finalize - these should be ready to go out in January. George mentioned that we need the size of the alpha implementers' connection to NJEdge - how much commodity Internet bandwidth do they have?

The Advisory Board should also meet in January or February. We need to provide early updates for the Adv Bd. We could share a simpler version of the WMS Workflow Management demo. What else should be included? It was suggested that a meeting with Linda Langscheid and Susan Kaplan (asst. PI on NJDH) would help to clarify questions on administration of a grant like this.

As mentioned before, WPU's President, Arnold Speert, should be invited to address the Advisory Board. Linda Lanscheid from NJDH suggested that an NJN member be invited on the board. Elizabeth Kristofferson was mentioned - George will talk to her.

At a recent EATF meeting, Linda Langscheid asked, "Will NJVid be able to cross harvest with other Fedora repositories? " This was discussed and decided that we would try to keep it in mind as we build NJVid. We can point out to external resources - standards based with a URL - this must be a stable location, but a federated search is not developed yet.

NJVid logo - update: The NJVid logo in a variety of formats for presentation and production was sent to all the members to use as needed. We need to get a website up with the logo and some basic info. Sujay said he was working on it. It should be a php webpage. Sandie asked if Robert Harris could share administrative access for easier editing as the work progressed. Sujay said it wouldn't be a problem.

Update on purchasing equipment - it was determined that Sun should participate in this discussion before decisions were made. A meeting is set for Jan. 10th in the afternoon - Sun will be there, too. This will be the tech implementers meeting (unlike the WMS demo which wasn't really related to purchase of hardware, but greatly helped to clarify the software and Fedora architecture). Thank you, Grace and company, for the demonstration. Everyone felt that it helped to clarify a lot for all involved.

Sandie and Sheri will work on an I2 proposal. The deadline is Jan 18th.

All domain names were grabbed except .edu. WPU needs to secure this from Educause.
