The NJVID Advantage

Streaming format has the advantage of anywhere, anytime access and simultaneous viewing of the same resource by many different users. However, the expense and effort of implementing streaming technologies at the local level remains prohibitive. NJVid enables these institutions to leverage the collective buying power and tools and services for major efficiencies of scale and service.

Videos in the commons include professional productions and unique learning resources that can be integrated with commercial and private videos to create a playlist of annotated video clips in support of a faculty lecture or a student research project. NJVid integrates all three collections through its use of a common architecture and tools to support instruction and research using any video in the collection. The ability to create learning objects and playlists out of any videos (Commons, commercial or Learning on Demand videos) will go a long way to enable and promote the use of digital video for teaching and learning.
