NJVid offers an easy access to the huge collection of over 3000 licensed videos from reputed vendors like Ambrose, INTELECOM, Aquarius Health Care Media, Biomedical Associates, California Newsreel, Cinefete, Fanlight production, Films Media Group, Icarus Films, Media Education Foundation and National Film Board of Canada. Instituitions can make these videos available to the students and faculties by subscribing them through NJVid.

The NJVid collection of commercial videos encompasses many diverse fields like art, health, biology, psychology, geography, American history etc. These videos come in with learning tools such as topic specific video clips and supplementary documents which can aid the student and instructor both for better learning and teaching experience. A lot of the videos have captions to aid easy understanding of the topics discussed in videos. The commercial videos with their diverse fields can be used as a learning tool for a wide range of audiences. Each of the videos has an exhaustive metadata that not only includes the detailed description about the video but also names of contributors. NJVid allows users to create their own play lists and view them accordingly.

The Virtual Academic Library Environment (VALE), a consortium of 54 New Jersey college and university libraries and the New Jersey State Library, is dedicated to furthering excellence in learning and research through innovative and collaborative approaches to information resources and services. Critical to the success of NJVid's Commercial Collection, the Digital Media Committee of VALE obtains streaming rights for digital media; develops a licensing model that can be used for negotiations with distributors; and implements a calendar for reviewing new contracts and committing to the established price in collaboration with NJVid and NJEDge.
